Tandra Page 1724, Evolution

Visit : https://www.tandra.com

I’m sitting on my back porch looking out over the yard as the rising sun brightens the Eastern sky.

Some of you may have noticed a change in the weekly Tandra Page update over the past few weeks. There are more words and the panels have more detail and texture. This is the format for the Tandra Pages going forward, or until I change my approach.

I have had a problem, as the story progresses, with saying everything I would like in the five lines of copy allocated for the bottom of the panels. This is not a recent issue. Beginning way back with Tandra Plate 122 I began to increase the copy count per plate. I continued this through Tandra Plate 145 after which I changed page layout again with three panels per plate with a box of copy bottom center. I changed again with Tandra Plate 181 having six panels per page with a block of copy centered on the page.

Tandra has never been a conventional comic strip nor did I ever intend it should be. Tandra is a picture narrative wherein I use as much copy per page as I need to tell the story in the best way possible.

Recently I have grown frustrated with the five lines in the lower part of the panel that I set for myself some years back. I have taken to employing the necessary word count to move the story forward to the best of my ability. At present I feel the copy and word ratio I am now employing gives me the flexibility I need to present my story to best advantage. Look for this page layout and word to illustration ratio to continue for the immediate future.

When and if I decide to try a different page arrangement, you will be the first to know.

At present, ideas for future Tandra Adventures are flooding my brain and I shall be exploring them as fast as I can get them written and drawn. I hope you enjoy what is coming as much as I anticipate creating them.

Stay tuned; the best is yet to come.
